“Offering young males and teens, a different route to optimise their wellbeing. Helping them overcome life’s obstacles without telling them how they ‘should be’ but instead, enabling them to become the bloke they want to be.”
Your mental health is at the core of who you are. It’s what shapes your story, experiences, and personality. Keeping that mental harmony can be a tough task in today’s world, especially for us blokes. At Bloke2Bloke, the goal is to help young males and teens get back to the bloke they really are and get the most out of life.
Bloke2Bloke Counselling is about helping young males and teens find new meaning in life. Today’s society and media can sometimes cast males in a negative light, taking a toll on mental health. With the ongoing discussions around gender bias, the agendas behind it, and general expectations of toughness, there’s a lot that can affect happiness.
Several other elements lead to increased pressure on males as well, such as:
The lack of visible role models
Pressure to suppress emotions
Insecurity around their futures.
Being sold ideas of masculinity that they don’t resonate with
Judgements from society, friends, family members, and peers
Social media comparison leading to decreased self-esteem
Lack of support for men or inadequate coping skills
Changing roles in society
These factors have a big impact on behaviours, thoughts, and emotions, adding to the mounting pressures that affect not just individuals, but also their loved ones. It’s becoming clear that they’re gradually diminishing the overall quality of life for males and society overall.
At Bloke2Bloke, the mission is clear—to provide a laid-back space where males can freely express themselves. The aim is to address these issues collaboratively, in a way that suits each individual best, without imposing any rigid rules on how they should think or feel.
Hi, I’m Andy, founder of Bloke2Bloke, an everyday bloke who, just like other blokes, deals with everyday problems. And like most, at times, haven’t given my mental and physical health the respect it needed and deserved.
The idea behind B2B took root when I had a profound realisation: physical and mental health are the absolute cornerstones of life. They’re the foundation that allows individuals to help others, make an impact on the world, and steer the course of their legacy. Without them, it’s like you’re not even in control of your own journey.
For years, I found myself drifting from one problem to the next, often harbouring anger and frustration, constantly asking, “Why is it always me?”. It wasn’t until I finally took ownership of my physical and mental health, recognising their true worth, that things began to change.
While it wasn’t a silver bullet that instantly fixed all my problems, it did something even more significant—it allowed me to regain control of my own ship and start charting the course I wanted to follow.
Once I saw how much this approach was having a positive impact on my own life, it was crystal clear—I wanted other blokes to experience the same thing. So, I decided to become a counsellor.
When faced with the usual approach of renting a room and having a formal face-off, asking, “How do you feel about that?”, it just didn’t sit right with me. I figured, if I felt this way, there must be other males out there who think the same. So, that’s when I got the idea to create something that took a different approach.
At the core of Bloke2Bloke’s philosophy is a commitment to providing an alternative to the typical therapy experience. Traditional counselling often leaves young males feeling disconnected when they need help the most. That’s why the aim was to create a service that allows these issues to be addressed in a way that feels comfortable and natural.
On a personal level, some of the most valuable chats about my mental state have been on the tools at work or after a footy game. The team mentality combined with a level of distraction provided that comfort zone to open up, and it’s this principle that has guided the shaping of the foundations for Bloke2Bloke.
I’m a fully qualified and accredited ACA Counsellor and Personal Trainer, and my personal beliefs and values mirror how I do things professionally. When it comes to my sessions and programs, I strive to make them laid-back, relatable, and engaging while also loading them up with expert knowledge to give young men the best shot at success.
Bloke2Bloke Counselling is dedicated to keeping individuals in sync with themselves so they can feel good and make a positive impact on those around them. Grounded in our core values, we’re committed to providing the ideal environment for personal growth and well-being.
Our core values revolve around 6 pillars
Bloke2Bloke is here to help with an objective approach. when facing hard times, the one thing teens need most is someone who will listen and help without judging!
Counselling is two blokes putting their heads together to figure out a problem. It’s a two-sided gig. If we can work in tandem, we will achieve the best results
It’s not just the individual who suffers from these pressures, but those around them as well. I am dedicated to helping teens understand the importance of connection and crafting meaningful, healthy relationships all around!
I want to get to know the individuals I work with and for them to know that I genuinely care about finding a solution to their problems.
I aim to make every session count so that something new, something unique is taken from every session, promoting progress and personal growth whether they’re here for just one session or more.
Instead of relying on a fixed script with generic responses, I'm committed to providing meaningful insights and approaching issues from fresh perspectives.
Find out more about the different approaches we might take when tackling your issues.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: In this form of counselling, I will work with the individual to identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour that could be affecting their mental well-being. I will help challenge and modify these patterns, allowing for the changes necessary for a happier life.
Solution-Focused Therapy: In this type of counselling, I take a pragmatic approach to finding solutions to current issues that may be faced. I will work with the individual to identify the steps necessary to achieve their desired goals, considering both their current situation and personal strengths.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy: This form of counselling involves understanding and acceptance of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours without judgement. I will help develop self-awareness to live a happier life moving forward from whatever struggles have been faced in the past, making peace with what can’t be changed and taking action on what can.
Philosophical Counselling: This unique form of therapy dives into the big questions and ideas that shape our lives. It’s not your typical counselling session – it’s all about digging into philosophical concepts and thought patterns to help find clarity, insights, and personal growth. Through philosophical chats and deep thinking, we can unravel beliefs, values, and choices. This approach gives room to wrestle with life’s tough questions, moral dilemmas, and all the twists and turns, offering a well-rounded view of mental well-being and self-improvement.
Activity-Based Counselling: Activity-based therapy is a fresh approach to therapy that blends physical activities with traditional counselling methods to boost mental and emotional well-being. Whether playing sports, getting creative with art, or enjoying nature walks during therapy sessions, this approach helps access a more relaxed and open frame of mind. It makes tackling emotional issues and stressors easier and more effective. This way, mental health can be actively enhanced with an enjoyable distraction.
